A new scripture resource for children of all ages
“One of the priceless treasures that we possess as Christians is that we know our story. We know where we have come from, and to where we are called to go. I know that we share in the story of those who have gone before us, for we all play our part in God’s Story.”
from the Foreword by Bishop Edwin Regan
God’s Story presents God to children through the eyes and words of the people who believe in God: the people of the first covenant and the people of the new covenant.
God’s Story is the major scriptural resource for use alongside Here I Am in the school and Walk With Me in the parish. It will also be useful for catechists providing Liturgy of the Word for Children.
God’s Story 1 is for the very youngest children
God’s Story 2 is for ages 5-7
God’s Story 3 is for ages 7-11 and beyond.
The three books offer progression in the language, style of presentation and choice of texts.
The ‘Notes for Adults’ will help those who share these books with children to encourage their understanding and learning.
The ‘God’s Story’ series is compiled and edited by Anne White with Chris Malone and Ann Byrne SND
The Scripture texts based on Good News Bible, the Jerusalem Bible and the New Jerusalem Bible are the work of diocesan primary advisers of England and Wales. The Scripture consultants were the late Fr Aelred Smith CP and Dr Adrian Graffy DSS, STD, PhL. The illustrations are by Kati Teague.
